Which path do you choose in nature?
In the interactive exhibition “Gewoontedieren” which MoMoLab was commissioned to develop for PWN’s De Kennemerduinen Visitor Center, visitors are challenged to reflect on their own behavior in nature. Because as humans, we are creatures of habit: we follow established paths, often without considering the impact this has on our environment.
This exhibition playfully and sensuously demonstrates how our behavior impacts the fragile dune landscape and how small choices can make a big difference. Can you stray from the path? Do you leave your mark? And how does nature actually experience you?

A complex theme, made accessible
How do you convey a topic like behavior change and nature conservation without being preachy? Using clear storylines, relatable examples, and interactive elements, we’ve translated this complex theme into an accessible and interactive exhibition. For all ages, nature lovers and casual hikers alike.
Visitors aren’t overwhelmed with facts, but are given the space to discover for themselves, make choices, and form their own perspectives. This encourages reflection and wonder.
From concept to implementation
MoMoLab was responsible for the complete development of the exhibition, from project management, concept development, and spatial design to the production of animations, interactive installations, and software. Everything came together in this multi-layered and inviting experience.
Co-creation was key. We worked closely with the PWN team to balance content, experience, and design. In close collaboration with partners like Loze Decor and Interieurbouw, Robert Blom, and PWN, we created an exhibition that inspires reflection and action.

Interactive elements
The exhibition includes several interactive elements that deepen the experience and actively engage visitors. For example, there’s an interactive seasonal wall that shows how the dune landscape changes through the seasons. You can also take a quiz to discover what kind of “creature of habit” you are. Are you a boy scout, a jumper, or perhaps a sand eater? The results encourage reflection on your role in nature.
Interactive experience for young and old
Visitors choose their own path, both literally and figuratively. They discover, in a personal way, how to interact more consciously with nature. Creatures of Habit is therefore an invitation to reflection and action, packaged in an accessible and visually rich exhibition.
